This October, our team helped kick off Builders Care's 2026 Ramp-O-Rama by completing two wheelchair ramps in two days for Jacksonville residents. We volunteered our time and construction skills to help make their homes more accessible.
We participate in Ramp-O-Rama each year because access to a home is a fundamental need, yet the cost of making improvements can put them out of reach. Through Builders Care, local construction teams can help close that gap.
A community effort led by Builders Care
Ramp-O-Rama is an annual initiative organized by Builders Care, the charitable arm of the Northeast Florida Builders Association. It brings together local businesses, sponsors, and volunteers to provide wheelchair-accessible ramps for residents who need improved access but may not have the financial means to afford the work.
Builders Care evaluates applications, identifies needs, and coordinates the people and resources that make these projects possible. Its broader mission includes affordable to no-cost construction services for older adults, people with disabilities, veterans, and other nonprofits across Northeast Florida.
This year's Ramp-O-Rama goal is to build more than 100 wheelchair ramps throughout the community. Our two builds helped launch the effort in October, and the initiative continues as participating organizations and volunteers complete their ramps.
Two days of hands-on work
At both homes, our crew built wooden ramps with landings and railings to improve access at the entrance. The work brought our team out of the commercial construction setting and into a project with an immediate, personal benefit for each resident.

The second build completed our two-day volunteer effort. For the residents, the benefit extends well beyond those two days: an accessible entrance they can use whenever they leave home or return.

Construction skills in service of our neighbors
Community involvement is part of our work in Northeast Florida. Ramp-O-Rama gives us a direct way to contribute: volunteering the skills we use every day to help residents who need safer access to their homes.
We thank Builders Care for coordinating these projects and the sponsors, businesses, and volunteers who make the annual initiative possible. Their work connects residents with the materials, labor, and support needed to turn a request for help into a completed ramp.
Alongside hands-on volunteering, we support local organizations through events such as the Champions for Mercy Golf Tournament, which benefits Clay County families.
